Derpy’s eyechange comparison

It may look like her eye’s were left alone, but they really were edited if you watch closely. I watched and screen-capped this one particular shot in both versions. Can any of you tell a difference now?

THIS is what makes me mad more than anything else. :C  The voice change doesn’t really bother me one way or the other, but un-derping her eyes just pisses me off.  That’s what her character is KNOWN for and now they’re going to get rid of it just because a few people complain…??  The offensive thing here is not the fact that we’ve got a wall-eyed pony.  What’s REALLY offensive is the fact that they’re changing her character because some idiots have associated her with being a joke against mentally disabled people.  Suddenly we can’t have a character that represents an impaired individual..??  Unbelievable.

Adding my own 2 cents here. btw I am slightly drunk so my powers of articulating coherent sentences may be slightly impaired at the moment.

I do not see anything wrong with representing people with disabilities. It should be embraced more than be offended by. Because in reality how many children’s shows actually have representation for these individuals? I for one cannot name any off the top of my head.

I can see why some people did not like Derpy’s original voice. It did give an air of stereotyping the disabled community (I even thought it was a bit too much where I first heard it). HOWEVER, Derpy’s voice actress said she thought of Derpy as being a boy and used that voice. That might have been the reason the original voice sounded so off to certain people. The fandom recognizes Derpy as a female character. The voice actress recognizes her as a male character and tried for a more boy-ish voice.

I enjoy both her original and new voice. They are both adorable and I love them.

BUT fixing the wall-eyed animation I do not like. There have been instances of the online pony-fandom community who do have disabilities who appreciate a pony that represents them. Fixing Derpy’s wall-eyed-ness is not helping in representing those people.

Yadda, yadda, ‘Derpy is putting the disabled community in a bad light b/c of these reasons yadda yadda’. NO. STOP IT. From what I have read people are happy that there is even a hint of representation of those sorts of people in this show (and those are the people Derpy is apparently representing). Why try to take away from them what they love/the representation they are given? Because the rest of the community deems it inappropriate to them, people who are also included in that section of the community?

Personally, I love that there is a clumsy pony such as Derpy. I am so damn fucking clumsy all the time and I love they gave Derpy that quirk. I cannot relate to having a disability of any sort since I do not have one. But I can relate to the clumsy-ness and want to help people even though I am somewhat inarticulate in things. But that clumsy quirk is also why people were jumping down Hasbro’s throats about this pony, just adding fuel to the fire of the whole ‘disability pony stereotype’ thing.

THESE ARE COLORFUL CARTOON PONIES GUYS. BTW WHY HASN’T THERE BEEN A PETITION AGAINST PATRICK STAR WHO IS OBVIOUSLY MENTALLY RETARDED. OH RIGHT B/C SPONGEBOB IS TOO FUCKING STUPID/SILLY FOR PEOPLE TO REALIZE THE ‘OBVIOUS’ STEREOTYPES BEING THROWN ABOUT + PONIES ARE SO MUCH COOLER.
